Team Spirit – The Girls’ Greatest Strength, Says Hambálek

The Slovak girls had a solid training session the day before the tournament and, like the boys, will play their matches at the Poprad Ice Stadium. “We focused our preparation mainly on the size of the rink. But the girls are in good spirits and we’re all ready to go,” said the Slovak coach.

Hambálek faced challenges finalizing the roster, but the team is now in perfect shape. “We had issues with injuries and illnesses when selecting the final lineup, but the rest of the girls are ready to represent,” he added.

Two years ago in Liberec, the U21 girls’ team competed at the World Championship, and many of those players are still on the team. In their first match, they’ll face the USA. “North American teams are always strong, but we’re determined to start the tournament on the right foot. Our greatest strength is team spirit and collective play. We also have standout players and key leaders. But win or lose, we do it as a team,” Hambálek concluded.
