The Patron of the Championship is a Slovak Ball Hockey Icon
The patron of the Junior Ball Hockey World Championship for under-20 boys and girls is three-time world champion and two-time bronze medalist at the World Championships, Patrik Svitana.
However, Patrik Svitana didn’t only earn medals at men’s championships — he was also successful when he was a junior. Among his achievements is a silver medal from the Under-20 World Championship held in St. John’s, Canada.
Regarding his role as the patron of the world championship, he said:
“Poprad is my hometown, and that’s why I’m really excited that we’re welcoming the junior elite right here in our region. Slovakia is beautiful, but the Tatras are unique. I’m looking forward to seeing all the teams, not only from overseas, and I believe they will enjoy their time in Poprad. Of course, I’ll be cheering for our team and I’m also looking forward to the strong support from the fans. See you this summer!”
Patrik Svitana is an icon of Slovak ball hockey, who has made a significant contribution to promoting the sport and has personally helped make it Slovakia’s most successful team sport!
