British Junior Women Have Already Played a Preparatory Match
Two years ago, in the face of strong international competition, they didn’t manage to earn a single point and lost most of their games by large margins. This time, however, both the players and team management are more experienced and have a better understanding of the strength of their opponents. That’s why the British team is committed to better preparation for the championship, aiming to play more balanced games—where earning even a single point would be seen as a great success.
The first test in preparation for the Poprad championship was a match against the British Women’s Masters team. This interesting match took place in Rotherham, fittingly, on International Women’s Day. In a close game, it was the Masters team who came out on top, defeating the U20 juniors 5–3.
Maddie Walker was recognized as the best player of the junior team.
The game was certainly a valuable addition to the team’s preparation, allowing the coaching staff to identify areas of weakness that need to be addressed, as well as positive gameplay elements that should be further developed.
It’s clear that the players from the British Isles will come to Slovakia ready to give their best on the rink. We’re looking forward to seeing them in action!
